Why write a book?
Why would I write a book and what the hell is CCR5 delta 32?
Housekeeping first. The book is "Ethos" A Young Adult fiction
I'm the author
It is not yet available. It will be soon
I need beta readers. That means I have to come out of my cave and mingle.
To answer the question - Why not?
I’ve always created stories. In elementary school my gang of friends would sit while I spun stories. It was my super power. Today I have notebooks filled with my writing that fill several bookcases. Writing and painting with words is a mental exercise I enjoy. I also like to knit and see storytelling similar to knitting words together. That’s why I write.
So why this book? It all started with an argument on FaceBook concerning evolution. Human evolution was brought up along with claims that the species branched every twenty to one hundred thousand years or so. Arguments that there have been many human species aside from the most famous, Neanderthal. The supposition that nothing new has happened since Homo Sapien and Homo Neanderthal dabbled in commingling started the Google search. Taking a deep dive into genetic diversity, I stumbled upon a new change to the human genome. The scientific description for this change is referred to as CCR5 Delta 32 to denote the gene that has changed. The discovery in 1996, driven by Aids research has generated many scholarly papers. Someone obviously cares just not the news media. Shocker! What CCR5 Delta 32 does for Home Sapiens is to protect from the major plagues of humanity. Y.pestis, Smallpox, Aids, H1N1, This little change is a BIG DEAL.
What could be more alluring than a new race fueled by a real mutation. But there must be more.
